What can you store in your Pocket?
Pocket offers secure, flexible storage for both personal and business needs.
Storage is rarely a one-person job. Until now, getting everyone into the same unit usually meant working around a single account. Today, we’re changing that with co-user access, a simple way to share storage with all the people who actually need it.
What’s new?
Co-user access lets you give other people access to your unit, so they can open it and use it with you. You can add family, friends or colleagues, with no limit on the number of co-users. It’s an easy and practical way to set up shared self storage that works for everyone using the space.
Why have we introduced co-user access?
In practice, storage units are often shared, even when only one person is named on the booking. Couples may store belongings together, families may share a unit, and teams may need access to the same equipment. We wanted sharing to be a core part of the Pocket experience, making it easy for everyone who needs access to use the unit independently, without relying on one person to be available every time.
What problems does co-user access solve?
When only one person can get in, that person becomes the gatekeeper. Anyone else has to wait for them, or rely on them to arrange access, which can quickly become inconvenient. Co-user access gives each person their own route into the unit, while the account holder keeps control of the booking.
How does it work?
Setting up co-user access only takes a few simple steps:
Email our support team. Send the request from the email address associated with your booking, and include the email addresses of the people you’d like to add.
Your co-user registers. They need to complete their registration on the Pocket website before we can give them access.
They’re added to your account. Once they’re registered and added as a co-user, they can open the unit the same way you do, using codes generated on the Pocket website.
Pocket makes sharing even easier with digital access codes. No more waiting around or chasing down keys, just quick and easy access.
What can a co-user do, and what can’t they?
Co-users can enjoy the same access to and use of the unit as the person who made the booking, allowing them to make full use of the facilities and benefits without needing to manage the reservation themselves. That’s exactly the point: sharing access should be simple and convenient, without compromising your privacy or control.
While co-users can use the unit, they cannot access your core reservation details or make changes to your booking. They also cannot cancel the reservation, amend your booking arrangements, or view or change your payment details. These remain entirely under your control.
Who will find co-user access useful?
Co-user access is designed for anyone who shares a space or has someone helping them with it:
Couples and families storing belongings between them.
Friends lending a hand with a move or a clear-out.
Colleagues and small teams who need to reach shared stock or equipment.
How does co-user access make storage easier?
Co-user access makes using your storage unit simpler and more flexible. If you’re in the middle of a move and your partner needs to access the unit while you’re at work, they can get in without waiting for you or collecting a key. Likewise, if a colleague needs to pick up equipment, they can access the space independently.
Everyone can use the space when they need it, giving you greater flexibility and saving time. With fewer arrangements to make and no need to coordinate every visit, storage becomes simpler, more convenient and easier to fit around your day-to-day routine.
How can customers use co-user access?
If you already have a Pocket, get in touch with our support team using the steps above and tell us who you’d like to add. If you’re booking a new unit and know you’ll be sharing it, it’s worth sorting this out early so everyone can get in from day one. You can then add as many co-users as you need.
What’s next for Pocket?
Co-user access is part of ‘What’s New In Your Pocket’, our series exploring the updates we’re making to help storage work better for the people using it. It’s one of several improvements we’re working on to make storage more flexible.
